Whiplash occurs when a person’s head moves backward and then forward very suddenly with great force. Whiplash results when the soft tissues (the muscles and ligaments) of your neck extend beyond the typical range of motion.
While the most common cause of whiplash is car accidents, other reasons why whiplash occurs are:

There are few important things to keep in mind when it comes to whiplash. First, symptoms do not begin to appear until about 24 hours following the incident that caused the sudden neck movement.
